I assist with the local Flash Platform Usergroup here in Austin. Adobe provides us with a group site to manage our meetings, discussions, etc., but I recently created a meetup group site to create a better experience for users and for us admins that need to schedule meetings and invite attendees. So far so good.

This meetup is not the same as the Flash Meetup group in Austin, if that makes any sense. We have started to coordinate efforts with them to have better attendance and cooperative efforts.

I love contests and just found out about another one with Imagineer Systems. They make software for stabilizing, motion tracking video and more. If you own AfterEffects, you own a copy of Mocha for AfterEffects. Mocha for AfterEffects makes easy work of completing complicated tracking, but also can be used with Final Cut or as a standalone product.

The first time you open Mocha you may find a very technical environment that can be intimidating. To make matters worse there are limited resources on the web, except for a few video tutorials with strong accents. If you are familiar with Mocha already, you can help out by signing up for their contest at http://www.imagineersystems.com/contest/ . They have some good prizes and you will be empowering the community.

The Adobe Museum of Digital Media is a first of its kind museum showcasing the many faces of digital media and its influence on how we live and communicate in the world today. The museum’s mission is to showcase and preserve groundbreaking digital work and expert commentary to illustrate how digital media shapes and impacts today’s society. The goal is to reflect cultural trends by inviting luminaries from across a number of disciplines to curate exhibits based on their field of expertise and reflecting their unique point of view. Future curators may include musicians, movie producers, professors, pop culture icons, and technology innovators.

The museum was developed through collaboration by Adobe, Goodby Silverstein and Partners, unit9 and architect Filippo Innocenti. The first full exhibit will launch in August 2010, but in the meantime, you can visit http://www.adobemuseum.com to see a preview and become one of its first members.

I recently bought myself a quality USB mic from Amazon that includes a cool carrying case, stand, shock base and cable. It comes with Cakewalk for editing your audio, but I prefer using Adobe Soundbooth. The package is a great value and is really easy to setup.If used correctly, the quality is top-notch.

Pancakes anyone? Halloween is almost here! Try out this easy to make pumpkin pancake recipe:

2-cups Pancake Mix
4 heaping tablespoons of Pumpkin Pie Mix (from the can)

Mix the ingredients and make pancakes. Cook as per the mix's directions and cook long enough so that they don't come out spongy.

Serve with cranberry sauce and warm syrup. So easy. So Yum. You can make even better waffles with this mix too.
